In the field of immersive virtual reality, 3-D interaction techniques usually allow full 3-D manipulation using 6 DoF devices. However, such manipulation isn't as natural as it seems. In real world, physical constraints (such as the gravity) reduces the manipulation space to less DoF. We work on two aspects 1) understanding how users handle many DoF at a time, and 2) proposing new interaction techniques following natural DoF decomposition schemes.

We propose new interaction techniques using multi-touch mobile devices coupled with a 6 DoF tracking system. The aim is to use the multi-touch mobile devices to introduce physical constraint to provide more precise manipulation and add a new visualization media for contextual information. We are also interested in the impact of such new interaction device and visualization condition on immersion and presence.

We are currently studying the influence of immersion, presence and interaction on the learning process of foreign languages. We are also working on the influence of the interaction level and the spatialization on the memorization process.
